{"id":31,"date":"2013-06-25T20:13:31","date_gmt":"2013-06-25T20:13:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/davidfreedman\/?page_id=31"},"modified":"2018-08-23T21:18:30","modified_gmt":"2018-08-23T21:18:30","slug":"poa-guardianship-litigation","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/davidfreedman.ca\/?page_id=31","title":{"rendered":"POA Litigation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A \u2018power of attorney\u2019 is a document made by a person to allow another person to make decisions for them about property management or personal care (or both).<\/p>\n<p>Where a person requires such a \u2018substitute decision maker\u2019 but did not make a power of attorney and is now incapable of doing so, a Court may appoint a \u2018Guardian\u2019. Attorneys and Guardians are basically the same; how they become appointed is different.<\/p>\n<p>This type of litigation can be complex and often require steps to be taken swiftly.
